SonicDICOM PACS is very fast now, but will it the system slow down when the number of studies increases?

Performance will slow down as the number of studies increases, though it depends on the environment.
The biggest cause for this change is the database.

By default, SonicDICOM PACS uses a database system that is compact and easy to deal with, called “Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition”.
By upgrading from “Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition” to “Microsoft SQL Server 2014”, you can dramatically improve the system’s performance; this difference is especially clear after the number of studies has increased.
There are several editions of “Microsoft SQL Server 2014”, but the “Express Edition” is free.
So, we recommend that you start with using the free “Express Edition”.
Upgrades to other editions is easier if you have installed the “Express Edition” first.
If you ever notice that the system is performing much worse all of the sudden, we suggest that you consider upgrading to the “Standard Edition”.
Please contact Microsoft directly for any questions and concerns about Microsoft products such as the “Microsoft SQL Server”.

If you are upgrading the database used by SonicDICOM PACS from “Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition” to “Microsoft SQL Server 2014”, please refer to the knowledge base for reference.
