1. Introduction

SonicDICOM is PACS software that combines the capabilities of DICOM Server with web browser based DICOM Viewer.
This document explains how to use the web browser based DICOM Viewer included as a standard.

1.2 System Requirements

Client’s requirement is a modern browser such as the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Internet Explorer.

2. Login to SonicDICOM

Start up a Web browser (Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.) and access the following URL.
URL: http://localhost/viewer/

When the login screen comes up, input the following ID and Password (initial values), and click the Login button.

  • ID: admin
  • Password: password

* For security purposes, please change the initial password.

2.1 When accessing from another PC

When accessing from a PC other than that is running SonicDICOM (DICOMApp Service), but within the same network, replace the “localhost” part with the IP address of the PC running SonicDICOM (DICOMApp Service).

For example: if the IP address of the PC running SonicDICOM (DICOMApp Service) 
is 192.168.100.10, this would be "http://192.168.100.10/viewer/".

2.2 If the port number of the web server has been changed to a non-standard number

Enter “:port number” after “localhost” or the IP address (“192.168.100.10”).

For example: In the case that port 8080 is to be used, this will be 
"http://localhost:8080/viewer/" or "http://192.168.100.10:8080/viewer/".

3.2 Search

3.2.1 Quick search

By entering a keyword in the quick search box and pressing the enter key, or clicking the “search” button, a list of studies containing the keyword will be displayed.

You can also specify multiple keywords by inserting spaces between them. This search will be an “and” search.

3.2.2 Advanced search

Searches with more detailed criteria than quick search can be carried out.
1. Click the Advanced Search button to open the search criteria dialog.

2. Enter the search criteria and click the Search button.

3.2.2.1 Match Type

PartialSearch for term including keyword (partial match)
PerfectSearch for exact matches with specified keyword (perfect match)
ForwardSearch for terms starting with keyword (begins-with match)
BackwardSearch for terms ending with keyword (ends-with match)

3.2.3 Patient ID Search

Click on a patient ID to make a refined search for that patient ID. (Perfect match)

3.3 Series/Image

Clicking on a “+” button in a study list to expand it will show the information for a series.
In addition, clicking on a “+” button in a series list to expand it all will show the information for an image.

3.4 Displaying images

1. Select an item (Study, Series, Image) to display from the list of studies (more than one can be chosen).

2. From Action, click the Viewer button, or double-click the item, and the selected image will be displayed.

3.5 Editing exam information

Information such as the patient’s name, date of birth, study description, etc. can be edited.
1. Select the item (Study, Series and Image) from the list of studies to edit.

2. From Action, click the Edit button.
3. By editing the information and clicking the Update button, the changed information will be
reflected.

3.6 Deleting

1. Select the item (Study, Series and Image) to be deleted from the list of studies (more than one can be chosen).

2. From Action, click the Delete button and the item will be deleted.

3.7 Exporting

Items selected from the list of studies (Study, Series and Image) can be exported.
1. Select a study to be exported from the list of studies (more than one can be chosen).
2. From Action, click the Export button.

3. Select the File Format, the Saving Format and click the Export button.

4. Click the Download button and save the file somewhere.

3.7.1 File Format

ZIPSave the selected study as a ZIP file (.zip).
A ZIP file is a method of saving that arranges several files
and/or folders into one file.
ISOSave the selected study as an ISO image (.iso).
An ISO image is a file that uses special writing software to
write and use CDs, DVDs, and other similar media.
You can burn an ISO image file to a recordable CD or DVD by
using Windows Disc Image Burner (standard Windows OS feature).

3.7.2 Export Format

DICOMDIRSave the selected study in DICOMDIR format.
Option: Attach SonicDICOM Media Viewer
Files OnlySave the selected study as a DICOM file.
DirectorySave each selected study as a DICOM file in a separate folder.

3.8 Sending images to other DICOM servers

Study can be selected to be sent to other DICOM servers.
1. Choose the study to be sent from the list of studies (more than one can be chosen).
2. From Action, click the Storage button.

3. Select a destination DICOM Server.
* Registration of DICOM server is done in the Admin settings.

4. Viewer

4.1 Part of the viewer screen

4.2 Selecting the series to be displayed

In the thumbnail display section, the first image of each series (the InstanceNumber is the smallest image) is displayed as a thumbnail. Dragging and dropping a thumbnail onto the Image display section will display that series.
A check mark is shown on the thumbnail for the series that is displayed.

4.3 Viewer functions and operations

4.3.1 Basic functions (mouse dragging)

func_windowlevelW/LWindow Level can be controlled by mouse operations
After the user clicks on the “W/L” button, Window Level can be changed
by moving the mouse while left-clicked on the image.

After the user clicks on the “Pan” button, the image can be panned
by moving the mouse while left-clicked on the image.
func_zoomZoomImage can be enlarged / reduced by mouse operations
After the user clicks on the “Zoom” button, the image can be enlarged / reduced
by moving the mouse while left-clicked on the image.

After the user clicks on the “Rotate” button, the image can be rotated
by moving the mouse while left-clicked on the image.
func_magnifierMagnifierEnlarges the area around the mouse cursor
After clicking the “Magnifier” button, the area of the screen you click
with the mouse cursor will become magnified. The magnifier glass will be
displayed for as long as you keep the mouse button pressed.

After clicking on the “Pixel Probe” button, click on a point to measure
in the image to display its pixel value (CT value).

4.3.2 Image Processing

4.3.3 Transform

4.3.4 Reset

Move the slider to adjust the speed.
